A customer needed an accelerometer logger to monitor the physical activity of small farm animals. The logger needed protection from water wash-down and log data for about 1 day. We enclosed the X16-5 logger within an inexpensive water-tight capsule purchased from Amazon.
Features
The standard X16-5 was not waterproof or rugged enough to withstand the animal’s day-to-day activities. The solution was to enclose the logger within a small metal container commonly used by hikers to protect personal items. These containers are readily available at retail stores, such as Amazon or Walmart. A 3D printed plastic cradle held the X16-5 logger tightly within the metal container. The finished product was a tough data logger with IP67 protection that could not be damaged by the animal.
